These assets were created for National ASL Week in April of 2018. The main goal of this project was to celebrate ASL, make the space more accessible to the deaf and HOH community, and encourage the use of simple ASL phrases to hearing students. These were primarily displayed in The Commons, a popular dining venue located next to the National Institute of the Deaf at RIT.

01. Motion
The most effective way to communicate signs in ASL is through motion. In order to create imagery that is most successful at teaching, I created a series of hand-drawn animations showcasing simple, food-related signs. These were then displayed next to the digital menu screens for each food station.
The social media campaign also heavily featured animation, with Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter posts featuring the tite animation - ASL Week.

02. Promotion & Signage
Hand-spelling is the most accessible way to learn ASL. Typically the english alphabet is the first thing taught in sign. I created napkin inserts illustrating the letters for customers to study while they are eating.
03. Social Media
Through paid and organic social media strategies, we targeted students with the goal of promotion the event and ASL in general through animation, information, and fun ASL facts.
04. Environmental Graphics
The goal of this week was to create something unlike a standard dining event through environmental graphics. I painted the large windows overlooking the main dining area with ASL hand letters, spelling out "Hello." I also created laminated labels to place throughout the dining hall to visually teach basic ASL signs to guests as they used the facility.
