Packaging Design, Branding, Illustration

Objective: To design packaging for the contents of a subscription box package that enhances the customer experience.
Solution: Venture Box is a quarterly subscription service for intermediate to advance hikers offering products with a variety of needs and uses. Taken into account were utility of item category, restocking needs, and user enjoyment and interaction.
This project was in collaboration with Sam Herman, Sydney Ryan, and Madison Griebel.
01. Branding
Inspired by elevation markers and U.S. National Parks, we designed a circular badge logo to represent our main brand. The brand's main objective was to invoke a sense of adventurous spirit in the hiker and outdoor enthusiast.
02. Illustrations
We developed a series of illustrations that would accompany the products in the box. Each illustration corresponds to each section of the package & type of product. They are of 3 different mountain ranges representing a large portion of the U.S.: Mount Rainier, The Adirondacks, and The Rockies.
03. Packaging Design
We looked into various small ways to add value to the user opening experience.  The box allowed for the user to tilt the product upwards, take the boxes and items out, and interact with the contents more than a standard subscription box allows.
04. Interaction
Seth the Sasquatch was created as a mascot to add interactivity to Venture Box. To appeal to the adventurous nature of our target demographic, he is hidden in several locations throughout the box to encourage small-scale exploration of the package.

05. Expansion
In future expansion of Venture Box, we envisioned Seth as our mascot, and a personal travel buddy. An information card included in the box, and features a cut-out of Seth to use as a travel bug, and allows customers to connect with other hikers and the Venture community through social media posts, tags, and interactive content.
